Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 July 2026

In short: this site requires no account. We do not collect your name, email or phone number, and your location is used only on your own device to calculate distances — it is never sent to our servers.

1. Data we do not collect

This service requires no registration or login. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, national ID, date of birth, or any other information that directly identifies you.

2. Location data

When you tap 'Find nearest toilet', your browser asks whether to share your location. You may decline; you simply won't be able to use the 'nearby' feature. Location data is processed entirely on your device to calculate distances, sort results and detect motorway driving. Coordinates are never transmitted to or stored on our servers, and are not used to track your movements. You can withdraw location permission at any time in your browser or device settings.

3. Anonymous reports

If you choose to report the condition of a toilet, we store: the toilet ID, its open/closed status, cleanliness, any tags you select, an optional note of up to 50 characters, a randomly generated device code, and the date. The device code exists solely to prevent repeated submissions for the same place; it is not a hardware identifier and cannot be used to identify you. Reports are shown only in aggregate. Please do not enter personal data in the note field.

4. Data stored on your device

Your mode preference, saved places, report history and the random device code are stored in your browser's localStorage and are never uploaded. Clearing your browser data deletes all of it.

5. Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand overall usage — how many people use the site and which features are used. This data is aggregated and does not identify individuals. If you are in the EU, EEA or UK, analytics cookies are set only after you give consent through the banner shown on your first visit; you may decline, and the site will work normally. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser data for this site. See also Google's information on how it uses data from partner sites.

6. Legal basis and your rights (EU/EEA/UK visitors)

Where the GDPR applies, our legal basis for processing anonymous report data is legitimate interest in operating a public information service, and for analytics it is your consent. Because we hold no information that identifies you, we are generally unable to link stored data to a specific person. You nevertheless have the right to request access, rectification, erasure, restriction or objection, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. Contact us by email and we will assist as far as the data allows.

7. Third-party services

Supabase (database hosting for anonymous reports), Vercel (website hosting; standard server access logs may be recorded), CARTO and OpenStreetMap (map tiles), and Google Maps (opened only when you tap 'Navigate', at which point Google's own privacy policy applies).

8. Children's privacy

This service is designed for the general public, in particular adults caring for young children. We do not knowingly collect any personal data from children.

9. Data security

The site is served entirely over HTTPS. The reporting feature applies rate limiting and content validation, and we store only the minimum data needed to provide the service.

10. Deleting your data

Clearing your browser data removes everything stored on your device. If you wish to have an anonymous report removed, email us with the location and approximate date and we will handle it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service changes. The date at the top of this page will be updated accordingly, and significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
